Hiking Telegraph Pass

Kurt, Kate and I set out Saturday morning to hike Telegraph Pass. As we drove toward the mountain, Kate kept asking if that was her mountain. So, we now call Telegraph Pass “Kate’s Mountain”. :)
Kate rode in Kurt’s backpack carrier along with baby Janet, and I carried the backpack with the snacks. We had a good walk, Kate even walked for a short time. (with only 1 small fall resulting in a tiny skinned knee) We made it to the top with Kate on Kurt’s shoulders jumping up and down (“go horsey!”), he is such a good Daddy!!
About 15 minutes from the van, on the way back down, Kate fell asleep in the carrier. Too cute!
In all, we hiked about 2 1/2 hours. Not to bad for a Saturday! Hopefully, we will have more opportunities to hike before it gets to hot!

First “BFF” moves away..

While we were still in the hospital, after Kate’s birth, we meet the Riggs family for the first time. Idonna is 2 months older than Kate and they really have enjoyed becoming friends. Idonna’s dad worked with Kurt, but he is now PCS’ing back to San Diego (he is a Marine). We will miss Idonna and Anna and Tim! Good luck and best wishes!!! Kate and Popo

Today, at bedtime, Kate said the sweetest thing. She picked Popo up and said, “Popo crying? Shhhh, don’t cry Popo. Katie here, Mommy here. Love you Popo!” She cuddled Popo and kissed her and hugged her.

It was the sweetest act of love and affection. She is growing into such a sweet little girl. We have our moments of battle, but the girl has my heart locked up tight.

Some of you may remember this picture from last year’s Christmas “ecard”. What a difference a year makes in the size of 1 little girl!
Kate has had a wonderful 2009! She is looking forward to Santa’s visit and the presents he will bring, especially candy canes!
